200,000 Norwegians owe the State Deposit Center a total of 13.3 billion kroner. It is new record.

The State Deposit Center is located under the Ministry of Finance and provides for the collection of state requirements.

The requirements include fines, compensation, NRK license fees, student loans and traffic and parking fees.

Senior Advisor Turid Brendberg in the State Deposit Center says to Nettavisen that between 40 and 50 percent of those who owe the state money are men under 40 years of age.

“It is an overrepresentation of men at their best age who live in Eastern Norway. In the total picture, 30 percent are women. The rest are men,” says Brendberg.
