Chief of Defence Haakon Bruun-Hanssen informs that he will allow private acquisition of a number of defence services in order to reach the government’s requirement to streamline NOK 40 billion.

Bruun-Hanssen says to Klassekampen, that they are looking at opportunities for privatization in all areas related to support and administration.

– This applies to everything with regards to storage and distribution of materials, and now we are looking at the opportunity for closer cooperation with universities and colleges for the training of personnel, says Bruun-Hanssen.

He says that he doesn’t foresee any problems about privatizing tasks in order to ensure preparedness for war.

– We are making assessments as to whether private companies can assure the necessary security we need and whether they have the ability to deliver in an emergency or war situation. And of course we must also get it at a lower cost than if we would do it ourselves, he says.
