Oil Service Company notifies wage cuts

REINERTSEN HEADQUARTERS IN TRONDHEIM

The poor state of the oil industry has led to the management in Reinertsen AS ask its employees reduce their salary by 5 percent. The reduction in salary shall also apply to the management.

Thomas Reinertsen, the director of the company, said to the newspaper Adresseavisen that they will have to take new steps to guarantee the company’s new contracts, as well as secure jobs for the employees that are still working in the company.

– We will not force anyone to reduce his salary, but it is rather something we suggest together with a number of other measures to gurantee jobs in the company, he said.

The staff was made aware of the suggestion on Tuesday. They must also rely on the fact that the company will have to reduce the pension payments.

The engineering company, Reinertsen, has its headquarter in Trondheim, and close to 700 people have been forced to leave the company so far since crisis hit the oil industry.
