Every third employee are working regularly outside of normal daytime. Among employees aged under 25 as many as 55 percents are working in the evenings or on weekends.
The proportion of employees working outside of what is considered as normal working hours and working day, Monday to Friday during the period 06-18, has remained stable at 33 percent since 2009.
Two groups with a particulary large percentage of people working outside normal daytime in 2015 are women and youth, according to Statistisk Sentralbyrå( Statistics Norway).
This applies to 36 percent of female workers, who often work shift or rota. Almost half of those are employed in the health and social services, a sector in which women are strongly overrepresented.
Work outside of normal daytime is most prevalent among employees in the 15-24 age group. In 2015 as much as 55 percent of the employees in this age group were working outside of normal daytime, many of them in service occupations and retail trade.
