Opera Software did not get the support of a sufficient number of shareholders for it to be acquired by the Chinese group Kunqi.

Now the parties have made an alternative agreement to sell parts of the business.
The agreement involves the sale of selected business units in Opera for $ 600 million – more than 5 billion kroner, according to Dagens Næringsliv.
The Chinese buyers, headed by Golden Bricks, who originally were to buy Opera Software, has had trouble getting  enough shareholders to support  the purchased. Originally, the company was supported by 90 percent of the Opera shareholders, but the authorities of a non specified country held back the purchase.
