302,700 people signed up as unemployed with NAV last year. This is the highest number of unemployed people in Norway since 2005.

On average  80,600 persons were registered as unemployed in 2015. Many were only unemployed for a short period.
– Although the unemployment rate increases, we have a well-functioning labor market. Many people experience periods of unemployment, but most get back into work  again or start on an education quickly, sa Labor and Welfare Director Sigrun Vågeng said.
At the end of January, 93,300 persons were registered as unemployed with NAV, which is equivalent to an unemployment rate of 3.4 per cent of the workforce.
