The Post office is allowed to drop A-Post that ensures delivery overnight, and cuts thus 550 employees in six terminals.

But the parliamentary majority says no to reducing postombæringen further.
It has been decided after the transport committee in the Parliament submitted its recommendation on Tuesday.

According to VG 550 people will lose jobs in Trondheim, Molde, Stavanger, Bergen, Evenes and Stokke when the nine post sorting terminals will be centralized to three.

The formal decision to be made in Parliament on November 29th and implies that post sorting centralized to Eastern Norway terminal at Lørenskog, Bodø and Tromsø.

Today the Post offices are entitled to deliver posts throughout working days.

Committee Majority put an end to the Government’s proposal to exempt 10 percent of the population from the requirement to receive mail five days a week.

– I’m glad that we’ve got with us Christian Democrats and the Liberals to ensure that the mails still to be handed out five days a week to everyone, says spokesman Kjell Idar Juvik from the transport and communications committee.
