Norwegian tourism businesses had record growth in foreign guest nights this summer. Tourist growth has contributed to the tourism industry. The industry is very optimistic about the market outlook for next year.

In all, 93 percent of travel companies think the market will be at current levels or be better in 2017, according to the NHO’s economy barometer for the third quarter, released Thursday. 43 percent look even more optimistic about the outlook than before.

– Tourism is becoming one of the pillars on which Norway can lean on during both economic and employment downfall.

Therefore, it is now important not to make mistakes that turns the positive trend, such as introducing new tourist taxes or strengthen the krone, believes Norwegian Hospitality Director Kristin Krohn Devold.

Close to one in three companies say they will increase investments. By comparison, only 14 percent would increase investment in the previous quarter.
