Over 300 employees in five companies are ready to strike from midnight if a consensus in the mediation between the Industri Energi and Norwegian Oil and Gas is not made.

The deadline to reach an agreement on oil service agreement expires at midnight on Wednesday.

The union Industri Energi has announced a first strike of just over 300 members in five companies: Schlumberger Norway AS, Baker Hughes Norway AS, Halliburton AS, Oceaneering AS and Oceaneering Asset Integrity.

The conflict is primarily around environmental handling of drilling waste, which can cause stoppages in some drilling operations.

This conflict will not immediately change production of oil and gas on the Norwegian continental shelf, said Norwegian Oil and Gas.
