In September Nav received 5.200 alerts about possible layoffs and dismissals. 3,300 of these are layoff notices, and this is a threefold increase since August.
– The number of layoff notifications increased in September due to the strike in the oil industry.
There is no reason to believe that this indicates a shift in the labor market.
There has been a sharp decline in the number of notifications in recent months, and we expect that the forecasts will be lower again in the coming months, said Labor and Welfare Director Sigrun Vågeng.
Nearly half of the notifications of layoffs and dismissals come from Rogaland, with over 2,500 people. Over 3,000 of the forecasts come from the manufacturing, mining and quarrying industries
.Only companies that are planning to terminate or lay off a minimum of ten employees, must notify Nav.
