There was a sharp decline in purchases of passenger cars with diesel engines in June this year. At the same time the purchases of hybrid cars increased , according to the Information Council for Traffic AS (OFV).
In June this year , just over 31 percent of all newly registered passenger cars had a diesel engine compared to a proportion of 40 percent in June last year, according OFVs list of car purchases in June.
If you don’t count hybrid diesel cars among those cars, only 0.6 percent of the newly registered passenger cars in June this year had a diesel engine, while the proportion in 2015 was at nearly 40 percent.
There has been an increase in the number of hybrid cars purchased in June. A total 3,174 of new passenger cars with hybrid drive were registered that month. That’s 1,239 more than in June last year.
In June, 1,906 new so-called zero-emisson cars with were registered. That’s 712 fewer than in June last year. Among all zero-emission cars that were registered in June, one of them was a hydrogen car. The rest was EVs.
A total of 13,681 new passenger cars were registered in June. That’s 526 fewer cars than in June last year.The number of newly registered passenger cars is 20 percent higher than June of the ten preceding years. The best-selling make of car so far this year is Volkswagen.
