In Rogaland  3,256 people were paid Nav’s maximum rates for unemployment benefit in 2015. This is a sixfold increase in two years, and the reason is that more people from high paying jobs have lost their jobs.
Nationally, the number increased by 113 percent in two years, to 14,248 people, according to TV 2.
– It reflects the situation where we see that many lose their jobs related to the oil industry. But it also shows how important it is that we make sure we get the full effect of our measures against the rise in unemployment  and manage to secure jobs in the short term, Minister of Labor Anniken Hauglie (H) says.
– The situation is manageable, but of course also serious, she adds.
The maximum rate for employment benefits is around 337.000 NOK a year and this corresponds to six times the basic amount (G) of the National Insurance Scheme. In order to qualify for this, a person needs to have earned over 540,000 per year from regular work.
