Spanish CAF will deliver the 87 new trams to Oslo. The trams will be phased in between 2020 and 2024 and, of course, they will retain the blue color.

NOK 7 billion is the overall framework for the new tram program that the municipality adopted in 2015. The cost limit for the 87 new trains is NOK 4.1 billion.

The tram program also includes upgrading of the infrastructure and upgrading of the tram stations and the workshops.

The supplier will also get an option to delivery another 60 trains to the capital. The first two trams will be tested in the winter of 2020, whilst the other trains will be put into operation between 2021 and 2024.

In total, there were six suppliers who competed to get the billion kroner contract: Alstom, CAF, Oslo Consortium, Skoda, Stadler and Siemens.
