Statoil has sold its stake in oil sands projects in the Canadian province of Alberta. Thus, the company is no longer operative in some oil sands operations.

‘Statoil have signed an agreement to sell its 100% share in oil sands projects Kai Kos Dehseh (KKD – in the Canadian province of Alberta) to the Athabasca Oil Corporation’, the company said.

The transaction covers the producing demonstration plant Leismer, and the, as yet, undeveloped Corner project, in addition to a number of contracts relating to Leismer production.

‘After this transaction, Athabasca will take over operatorship of Leismer and Corner, and Statoil will no longer be operating some oil sands production’, wrote Statoil.
