Equity prices rose in several of the major exchanges in Asia after news that there will be no new FBI investigation of Hillary Clinton in the United States.

Investors believe this strengthens Clinton’s chances of winning the presidential election on Tuesday. The possibility that Donald Trump could win the election caused stock prices to drop in many places in the world during the past week.

In Tokyo, index Nikkei 225 had risen 1.6 percent to 17,177.21 points when the exchange closed on Monday afternoon at local time. In South Korea and Hong Kong, exchanges also rose in the wake of the FBI’s statement the day before.
