Telenor made an operating profit of 6 billion in the second quarter of this year, similar to the second quarter last year.

The company has chosen not to take part in the frequency auction in India, because the price level does not provide enough returns.
The company’s turnover in the second quarter was NOK 32.5 billion, up from 31 billion the second quarter last year.

Telenor Indiai mproved significantly  in this quarter. Although the company will not engage in frequency auctions in the country, it continues to drive growth based on current frequency holdings.

Mobile traffic and subscription revenues increased by 4 percent, while total sales were impacted by lower sales of mobile phones, the company said in a statement.
The removal of the tax for telecommunications traffic for customers in Norway, Denmark and Sweden on other networks in Europe, or roaming, affects the company’s roaming revenues and expenses in the short term. But the company is simultaneously  experiencing a solid increase in sales of new subscriptions.

The strong revenue growth in Bangladesh, Pakistan and India continued throughout the quarter. Telenor has secured additional frequency in Pakistan and completed a major network expansion of 3G in Bangladesh, which supports the continued growth in data usage in these markets.
