Telenor increases revenues

Telenor reported a profit before taxes of 6.688 million kroner in the first quarter of this year. Revenues are growing, and the number of subscribers has increased by millions in Pakistan, Myanmar and India.

Operating income was at NOK 33 billion, a 5 percent increase from the same period last year,  the report for the first three months shows.
– We have got more than five million new customers, while we continued to improve both network and service offerings, said CEO Sigve Brekke.

Telenor got 2.2 million new customers in Pakistan in the first quarter, 1.8 million new clients in Myanmar and 1.5 million in India. All in all, Telenor  now has 208 million customers worldwide.
The situation is stated to be more difficult in Thailand and Malaysia, where competition is fierce.
