After  the E16 in Gudvangen in Sogn og Fjordane was closed because of landslides, cruise tourists have been forced to cancel lodging and excursions for millions.

The road has been closed since Tuesday afternoon and this has made it hard for cruise tourists to get around in the district, according to the newspaper Bergens Tidende.
The closing down of the E16 in Gudvangen has among other things, lead to 500 tourists cancelling a lunch reservation at Stalheim hotel, in addition to 60 overnight guests having to drop the visit.

– It is very devastating for tourism. This means we are not able to use our buses to transport the tourists on the most popular route between Flam and Voss, CEO  in European Cruise Service, which offers excursions to cruise tourists, Arthur Kordt, says. He says that the landslide has led to a loss of several million each day for travel the industry.

The road will reopen on Saturday at 11 o’clock. Hotel Owner Ingrid Tønneberg Stalheim Hotel hope to eventually make enough profits to make up for the loss.
– I do not count the loss  in monetary terms, but we have certainly lost some hundred thousand kroner. We should be able to make enough profits to make up for the loss eventually, she says
