Tremendous growth in sales of fruit and vegetables

The sales of fruit and vegetables increased by 1.5 billion last year. In particular, this applies to the sale of bananas, tomatoes, strawberries and avocados. Figures from research company Nielsen reveals that the sales of vegetables and potatoes increased by 8.1 percent in value last year, according to newspaper Dagens Næringsliv. The sales of fruits and berries increased by 10.2 percent.

Banana has in 2015 increased sales by as much as 173 million. Tomatoes, strawberries and avocados are also strong growth drivers, with a turnover increase of over 100 million compared to 2014, says marketing manager Tina Torgersen in Nielsen said.Total sales were made for about 19 billion NOK in the fruit and vegetable segment.Over the past decades, the consumption of fruit and vegetables has increased by 20 percent.
