The US government has approved the establishment of the trade union Norwegian Cabin Crew Association (NCCA) for Norwegian employees in the United States.

– This work has taken a very long time, which is mainly due to opposition from the employers, says deputy Vegard Einan of the employee organization Parat.

Employees began work on forming a union in May last year. Wednesday US authorities approved the creation of NCCA, said the union in a statement.

NCCA is the first independent trade union of unrepresented cabin crew, since Air Line Stewardess Association organized themselves in 1945.

Einan stressed that US rules to unionize differ from Norwegian legislation in many areas.
