Crown Prince Haakon has agreed to be patron when NCA will raise funds in this year's telethon .
The proceeds from the telethon will go to the NCA's projects to ensure access to clean water and safe sanitation in several countries in Asia and Africa.
- Through the crown prince's commitment to the UN , he is already well acquainted with the seventh millennium goal , where one of the indicators is access to water . It fits perfectly , he is patron of this year's telethon " Water changes everything ," said Secretary General Anne - Marie Helland NCA in a statement.
Helland says 3.5 million man hours are saved every day by providing permanent water access for one million people.
- To strengthen several of these positive effects will NCA in addition to building wells and rainwater collection systems , set up latrines and work to improve sanitation and hygiene , says Helland .
TV campaign is the largest fundraising and this year celebrates its 40th anniversary . Since the start of the telethon in 1974, the Norwegian people have contributed with seven billion kroner.
This year's telethon will be held on Sunday 19 October.
