Together with the 7 class from Vikersund school in Buskerud (county),Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit cleared the beaches, at East Bolærne outside Nøtterøy in Vestfold county thisTuesday.
Marine litter is a big problem, and the students and the royal couple got a lot to clean up during the commemoration of this coming Saturday which is this year's beach cleanup day. The day was established as a pilot project of Keep Norway clean in 2011.
Divers from Pro Dive Nesodden also participated in the cleanup, and they showed what they had found of garbage on the seabed.
Also earlier in the day was environmental and climate on the agenda for the Crown Prince and Princess. Then they had the face of climate and Environment Minister Tine Sundtoft (H) at the the Climate and Environment Ministry. In addition, there were seminars on climate, biodiversity and cultural heritage.
