The Count, who was Queen Margrethe's cousin, passed away Tuesday night after a long illness, informed the Danish royal house Wednesday. Count Christian was a captain in the Danish Navy, where he was chief aboard a mine sweeping and a ship in the fisheries inspectorate.
He decline his inheritance to the Danish throne in 1971 when he married a commoner. The Count was greatly concerned with sports and was particularly interested in rowing. He and his wife Countess Anne Dorte had three daughters together.
