Friday afternoon was kicked off in the traditional Færder voyage with King Harald V as the most prominent participant. He sails enough once his father King Olav boat "Sira". It was in "Sira" King Harald at age two was on his first voyage as far back as 1939.
The boat is currently in full race condition after the king was completely restored a few years ago. In sunshine and light winds did start peacefully. Approx. 800 boats and just under 6,000 participants attending this year's edition. At half past four o'clock led the defending champion and favorite "Wolf Pack" with 30 minutes down to the nearest boat.
The first boats are expected to sail into the net Horten Friday night.
The start of the race was characterized by little wind, which posed a difficult and slow task for sailors. In the afternoon and evening there were four seconds meters of air at the head of Oslo Fjord, but the wind is expected to pick up later.
By Færder lighthouse and Tristein await fresh air and 9 seconds meters of air, so it is high speed boats into the evening and night hours . Færder regatta runs from the harbor in Oslo, down to Færder lighthouse and up to the finish in Horten. Kjell Inge Rokke's wife, Anne Grete Eidsvig, sailing couple's new boat "Pure Joy", but without the man on board.
