On October 1, 10,000 households and 3,000 companies will receive new zip codes or postcode names.

“The changes are taking place to get as efficient postal distribution as possible on requests from several municipalities, organizations, associations and customers who wish to change their postal address due to local or historical conditions,” says John Eckhoff, Press Officer in Posten Norway.

The biggest changes will take place in Østfold, where Gressvik, Spydeberg, Mysen and Rakkestad will receive new zip codes.

Outside Østfold, Nordbyhagen will change the postal name to Lørenskog and Surna to Surnadal. In addition, Frekhaug and Nordfjordeid will get new zip codes for areas outside the city centers, and Øvre Rendal will receive a new zip code. At the same time, about 200 mailboxes will get their own zip codes.

Anyone affected will be notified on 1 August.
