The 13 years old boy who fell into the sea in Vesterålen on Friday, died on Sunday because of injuries.
Sunday afternoon reported Hadsel-Councilman Ola Morten Teigen that they could not save the boy’s life, according to Vesterålen Online.
– Sunday afternoon we received the sad news that Friday’s accident in the marina at Sandnes have been fatal, writes Teigen in a statement.
The boy was alone in a small boat Friday afternoon, when he fell into the water. People on shore alerted police and a fellow came and tried to save him.
University Hospital in Tromsø informed the news agency NTB on Sunday morning that the condition was critical. A few hours later it was announced the death.
The family and the directly affected are now being handled by the municipal crisis team.
Students at Sandnes school, where the boy was a student, will be taken care by teachers and emergency teams. A transfer collection will be at 18:30 Sunday.
