Norway will receive 150 refugees from Syria before the summer. This is part of the agreement made with the European Union to resettle all 600 Syrian refugees from Turkey during the year.

The EU has pledged to resettle up to 72,000 Syrian refugees from Turkey. According to VG, the Norwegian goverment had been extending the resettlement for longer than other EU countries as their follow up on the agreement between the EU and Turkey on refugees.

The newspaper writes that as of the 15th of May, Sweden had accepted 55 refugees from Syria, Germany 54, Netherlands 52, Finland 11, and Lithuania 5.
“All countries should try to help with this goal. We have therefore notified the EU that we can fulfill our quota faster. It is true that we stand tall, but there has also been pressure from the EU to get the deal done, and we will not proceed without countries’ contribution,” said Ms Marit Berger Røsland to newspaper VG.
