Dogs attacking postmen is not just an urban myth according to the German postal service. Approximately 1,500 postmen are bitten by dogs in Germany annually.

‘Aggressive dogs should be inside when the postman is on his round’, said Deutsche Post CEO, Frank Appel.

He said the company’s 100,000 employees have been trained to handle dogs, but even so, many are still injured by
being attacked by dogs.

Deutsche Post is currently investigating the possibility of using drones to deliver mail and packages.
