The man who stood accused of killing his two-year-old daughter at Ellingsrud in Oslo in 2014, appealed on the spot after he was sentenced on Thursday to 20 years in prison.

The 37-year-old Afghan has always denied culpability and explained in the Oslo District Court that he had never used violence against his family.

The man was charged with premeditated murder committed under especially aggravating circumstances. The two year old bled to death after being stabbed in the face, shoulder and twice in the back.
The prosecutor, Attorney Andreas Schei, presented the claim that the defendant should be sentenced to 20 years in prison.

The girl was stabbed while she sat on her mother’s arm. It occurred in connection with a mass brawl outside the family’s apartment, where the girl’s grandmother, an uncle and another relative were also stabbed.

Shortly before the stabbing, a man had beaten his partner at home in the apartment according to the indictment. She got a fracture in her nose and damage to two teeth.
The 37-year-old explained that he had waved around the knife in the fight that arose when family members came to the aid of the girl’s mother.

The defendant came to Norway in 2009 and received a temporary residence permit. In 2013, it was rejected at the time being and he had a deadline to leave the country in February 2014, a few months before the murder. According to the girl’s mother, he was upset and angry because of the expulsion decision.
The 37-year-old was found guilty on all points of the indictment. In addition to the sentence of 20 years in prison, he was sentenced to pay 900,000 NOK in compensation to the family members.
