200 people demonstrated against the construction of wind farm

Many protesting that one of the country’s largest wind farms will be built on Fosen in Trøndelag, writes NRK news.

– This is the largest demonstration in Norway this year. It is also the largest operation that has been until now against the construction of wind power, says Kjell Derås, central director of the Norges Naturvernforbund to NRK.

On Saturday about 200 people protesting, which required the construction work at the waterfall to bestopped. The demonstration was held at the Storheis in Åfjord municipality in Sør-Trøndelag.
Norges Naturvernforbund is critical to the construction of wind turbines in an area that is important for South Sami reindeer.

– Today it has met the demonstrators from reindeer herding from Nordland, Namdal and Røros. Many are here in solidarity. Match force is large, Southern Sami reindeer have sacrificed enough, says Derås.

Fossen Vind informs channel that work will continue on Monday which began five days ago.

– We fully understand that those who are directly affected are frustrated, but we’ve got a legal license, says Torbjørn Steen, Communications Manager at Fossen Vind, to NRK news.
