Police Immigration Service (PU) hoped to have completed the registration of last year’s arrivals of asylum seekers in July, but finalised registration of 3,300 people still remains , writes newspaper Dagbladet.

At the beginning of 2016 saw around 14,000 complete registrations. A complete registration means that the police has interviewed each applicant. The influx was so great in September that PU  began to ommit parts of the registration.

They were just taking pictures and fingerprints and checked if the applicants had seeked asylum in Europe or had already been registered in another country. In April 6780 complete registrations remained, and PU stated that they aimed to be done by July 1.

– July 1 was an internal ambition that was difficult to fulfil without spending a disproportionate amount on overtime, partly because the applicants live scattered across the country, said the section chief Rolf Hegli at the Registration department of PU . He adds that the goal has always been to complete last year’s asylum applications before the end of 2016.
