Rain clouds have given the wettest July in Bergen in 46 years, according to figures from the weather station Florida.

– July’s record rainfall in Bergen was 263.7 millimeters this year. The number of days with precipitation of more then one millimeter was 20 days, wrote the Norwegian Meteorological Institute on Twitter.

One must go back to 1970 to find a higher rate rainfall for Bergen in July. The 1970 rainfall totaled 274 millimeters of precipitation.

– We have recorded a rainfall record on the Florida monitoring station. This year’s July measurement is the third highest since 1904. With the official measurements, it has not rained more in July since 1970, said state meteorologist Bente Wahl.

The greatest amount of precipitation measured at the two measuring stations in Bergen were however in 1964, and were 297.1 millimeters of precipitation.

– During July there has also been more than one millimeter rainfall in 20 degree weather. It says something about the rainfall and how it is happening, it has rained almost every day, says Wahl.
