A 43 years old man is accused of having stabbed and killed his wife and abusing five of the couple’s six children.
The Somali man poked his wife with a knife several times in the couple’s home on Follese in Askøy in February last year, according to the indictment that was taken out Monday.
The 39 years old woman died a short time later of lung collapse, heart damage and bleeding, according to the newspaper Bergens Tidende.
The man is also accused for abusing five of the couple’s six children through eight-year period, and to have used violence against his wife while the children were present.
When the case happened, their six children were aged between one to 18 years.
Prosecutors reserve the right to raise the claim for transferring him to compulsory mental health care, implied that the man may be considered to have been psychotic at the time of the offense and therefore is criminally insane.
The forensic psychiatric experts have spent some time on it and has issued two additional statements.
– We have assumed that he basically can get regular imprisonment.
He is not found insane by psychiatrists as of now, but things might change during the trial, said District Attorney Ellen Cathrine Greve.
