Norway gives NOK 35 million to extraordinary measures to the refugees in Greece. Most of the money will go to organizations who are working in the country.
The Ministry of foreign affairs sets aside NOK 5 million for the Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Planning (DSB), which will use the funds through the EU’s coordination of civil emergency. NOK 30 million will be given in emergency humanitarian aid to organizations operating within Greece.
– The humanitarian situation for refugees and migrants in Greece is serious and there is a need for relief measures. Especially along the border with Macedonia, the situation is precarious, said Foreign Minister Brende.
Which organizations who will be receiving the  money, has not been decided yet.
Recently the Norwegain authorities announced that Norway will contribute NOK 31 million of their EEA funds in order for Greece to strengthen their reception capacity and registration of refugees. Overall Norway’s contribution to Greece has reached 240 million kroner, according to the Foreign Ministry.
