Of the 31,145 asylum seekers who came to Norway in 2015, did 519 people get temporary work, according to figures the web paper Nettavisen acquired .

– This concern permits that are given . It is not certain that all have managed to find employment even if a permit is issued. The police has no overview of that, says Johan Ostby, senior adviser at the Police Directorate, to the online newspaper.

To get a temporary work permit you must have completed the asylum interview, there must be no doubt about the identity and it should not be necessary that the applicant should be expelled from Norway or another country, the newspaper said.

449 work permits were given last year by the Directorate of Immigration (UDI), and 70 were given by the police districts.
