A German soldier died in a traffic accident in Trøndelag

A German soldier died after being hit by a passenger car in the Haltdalen in Trøndelag on Friday night.

 

Lieutenant Colonel Ivar Moen of the Armed Forces, states to NTB.

The police were notified of the accident at 21.40.

– “A military vehicle was idling on the road when a passenger car was approaching. The passenger car attempted to pass the vehicle and hit the male soldier. First aid was given on-site, but the soldier’s life was impossible to save,” says Øystein Sagen, head of the police department in Trøndelag, NTB.

The accident happened on the county road towards Aunegrenda. The police are investigating the case, and Crime scene investigators are at the site.

NATO has had the largest military exercise in Norway since the end of the Cold War. About 50,000 soldiers from 30 different countries have been involved.
