If Blidensol nursing home in Stavanger does not reverse their decision for the ban on hijab for employees, the municipality threatens to cancel their agreement.

– Leader Kåre Reiten from the Municipal Board for Social Welfare in Stavanger says to NRK news that they take this matter very seriously and we will send a letter to the Board at Blidensol regarding the cancellation of the agreement, and Blidensol will have three months to reverse its decision.

This decision was made during a meeting between the Administration and the Political Leaders on Monday.

The Equality and Anti-Discrimination Ombud has already concluded that the decision to deny the employees to wear religious or political garments at work is in breach of the law.

The Board at the nursing home are now preparing an appeal to the Equality and Anti-Discrimination Ombud.
– The reason we will terminate the contract, is that we believe they in breach of it. They have committed an offense contrary to Stavanger municipality’s policy, says Reiten.

He expects that the Care Home Association, which owns Blidensol, will choose a new nursing board at its annual meeting in February, and that the new board will not deny its employees to wear hijab at work.
