Many dump their animals in animal shelters in the summer. Now it’s filled to capacity at several of the local branches.

– We have had very high demand this year again, as years before, says veterinary professional counselor in the animal protection service, Birgitte Fineide to P4.

Animal protection service Norway takes in about 5,500 animals a year, and 40 percent of those are in the summer months. It is mostly cats being delivered.

– We see that there are still people who are going on vacation and who have not planned what to do with their pets when they go away, said Fineide.
