Appeal in triple murder case in Oslo

Honor killings as punishable as other murders ruled the Oslo District Court last year, when the verdict fell in a triple murder case from Pakistan. Three people were sentenced to long sentences. Tuesday  the appeal begins.

A Norwegian-Pakistani couple were sentenced to a maximum  penalty, 21 years in prison for premeditated murder. The man’s brother was sentenced to 17 years in prison. All three appealed on site.

– Honour killings should be considered on a par with other murders. The defendant has lived in Norway for more than 30 years and can not claim that they did not know the rules of the land, said the ruling by the Oslo City Court.

Married secretly

The case accused that the couple’s 24 years old son in law, his brother and father were all killed with several shots in May 2013 in Gujrat east Pakistan.

According to the verdict this was murder honor related. Prosecutors believe parents ordered the killings after the daughter had secretly married without parental consent.
The three defendants are all resident in Norway, but the three murder victims were residing in Pakistan.
