A group of asylum seekers in Finnmark have started a hunger strike and said they would refuse to board the buses for deportation to Russia. Around 70 people were over the weekend transported from other refugee centers to the Arrival Center Finnmark in South-Varanger. It became clear last week that asylum seekers can be returned to Russia by bus, but asylum seekers who now find themselves in Sør-Varanger, say they will refuse to get on board these buses, NRK reported.

– All the families are going to put themselves out on the streets in the cold. We do not want to get on the bus, says Rami Haddad to NRK.
He says that several of them have started a hunger strike. Haddad says he comes from Jordan and were transported to Finnmark from a reception center in Harstad.
– Many here have lost their homes and have no money. They have nothing to do in Russia, they only got a visa to come to Europe. Now they will drop them inside of Russia, where we know that no one will help us. We’re going to be left out in the cold, without food and water, and with no roof over our heads, he fears.
