An elderly male bear was shot Thursday afternoon at Brydalslia Tynset, Hedmark while a hunting permit was granted on Monday.

– We did notice a sheep carcass in the morning around nine o’clock and then we went out to search. We found early traces of the bear and sent a dog out on a pilot. Eventually we came close enough for the bear and the chance to shoot. Everything went smoothly for them, said the head of the fellingslaget municipality in Tynset, Esten Vingelen to newspaper Østlendingen.

It was an older male of about 200 kilos shot. A hunting permit was granted based on a sheep’s carcass found in a pasture area last Sunday.

Last year there were at least 128 bears in Norway, per info from Rovdata.
