The municipality Bergen has put hundreds of million kroner into getting every tenth Bergenser to ride a bike, but is far from achieving this goal.

Since 2002,  784 million kroner have been invested in pedestrian and cycling measures in the “capital” of western Norway, newspaper Bergens Tidende writes. The municipality’s stated goal is that ten percent of the population will choose cycling over other means of transport by 2019, but so far, only 3.4 percent of the residents are riding a bike .
