Brende: Can not give up Syria

There havebeen some terrible days in Syria, says Foreign Minister Børge Brende. UN Security Council will ask Gathered in an emergency meeting on Sunday afternoon.

– There have been some terrible days, but we cannot give hope, says Brende, who believes the Assad regime’s actions bordering war crimes.

After the ceasefire broke down on Monday the Syrian government forces put into an offensive against the rebel-controlled parts of Aleppo.

The city has been intensively bombed in recent days. The devastation is immense and around 200 people have been killed.

– A new truce assumes that Assad’s planes are grounded, says Brende, who said it is totally unacceptable that the civilian and humanitarian targets affected.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said on Saturday that he is shocked and appalled by the violent escalation in the bombing of Aleppo. Sunday 17:00 O’clock, an emergency meeting called in the UN Security Council, initiated by Great Britain, France and the United States.
