Brende condemns terrorist attack in Dhaka

Brende condemns the terrorist attack in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka. – We have to turn back the cycle of violence in Bangladesh now,  the Foreign Minister said.

– I  strongly condemn the terrible terrorist attack on innocent civilians in a restaurant in Dhaka on the  night of yesterday and today, when terrorists killed 20 people and held hostages for many hours,  Brende says in a statement.

Two Bangladeshi policemen were also killed in the attack.
– My thoughts and condolences go to the families of those killed and to the many casualties, says Brende.

He points out that the attack on the restaurant Holey Artisan Bakery are in addition to  numerous murders of civilians – including activists, bloggers and minorities – made by extremists in the last eighteen months.
-Such senseless violence is and remains completely unacceptable. We have to turn back the cycle of violence in Bangladesh now,  the Norwegian Foreign Minister says.
