Foreign Minister Børge Brende is very unhappy that Russia has vetoed in the UN Security Council against stopping hostilities in the Syrian city of Aleppo.
– I am deeply disappointed that Russia once again used the veto possibility here to stop an important resolution on Syria in the Security Council, he said.
Brende said in a statement to news agency NTB that the resolution had wide support, including in Norway, which was co-sponsor of the resolution.
– This is the fifth time Russia has chosen to veto the resolutions that are intended to improve the situation in Syria. As I’ve said before: Russia has a special responsibility to ensure that the agreement they signed for ceasefire and humanitarian access is complied with, said Mr Brende.
