The peace process in the Philippines was the main topic of Foreign Minister Børge Brende on Friday when he met outspoken Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.
– Duterte expressed confidence on Norway and mentioned that the process is on track. I have a good hope that we can find solutions.
This could end the conflict that has lasted for nearly 50 years, says Brende to news agency NTB on a jagged line telephone from Manila.
In addition to meeting with Duterte, Brende also has held talks with Foreign Minister Perfecto Yasay, peace minister Jesus Dureza and representatives of the guerrillas.
