A timber building at Brygga in Tønsberg, which houses the club Havariet , has been completely destroyed by a fire on Thursday morning. No one was injured.
Fire brigade and police turned out to Brygga after receiving a message just after 23.30 on Wednesday evening about a fire in the kitchen of the restaurant .
There was a lot of smoke inside the premises, and all of the guests were evacuated. In addition to Havariet, the restaurant and bars Harbour, Becks, Baku and Brygga cinema were also evacuated.
The fire department quickly got knocked down the flames in the kitchen, but it turned out that the fire had spread through the ventilation system. Because of this, it took a long time to get the situation under control.
– No one has been injured, but a good deal of damage has been done to the building. The fire is inside a wall, so the fire department had to cut through to be able to put it out, operations manager in South-East police, Kjetil Inndalen, the told news agency NTB.
Not until five hours after they had first got the message about the fire, did the fire, department finally have the site under control.
