Cheer for the royal couple when they visited Røst

King Harald and Queen Sonja visited the islands of Lofoten during the second day of their county visit in Nordland. The island community at Røst welcomed the royals.

 

After visiting Sørfold and Steigen municipalities on Tuesday, the trip went to Værøy and Røst on Wednesday. In Røstlandet they were met by hundreds of the island’s 500 inhabitants.

On Glea, they got together for a festival with contributions from local cultural participants and businesses. The royal couple had a demonstration of how to dry fish, and tasted several of the products, wrote kongehuset.no.

They went to the church at Røst, which King Olav visited during his visit there in 1963.Then he signed a stone outside the church. During his visit on Wednesday, the king’s parish signed a sheet for the transferred of a new stone to be placed next to King Olav’s.

Later on Wednesday afternoon, the royal couple visited Værøy.
