Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was found partially charred in Søndre Land municipality in Oppland. The dead had terrible injuries and has been fragmented.
The dead was found by two who walked by on Saturday night and on Sunday the local police received assistance from NCIS.
– On the basis of findings that NCIS has done on the spot where the body was found, it was concluded that there has been a murder, said police attorney Kristian Johansen from Innlandet police district.
Burned and charred
The dead man was found severely burned and with terrible injuries at the edge of the forest road.
– There are both discoveries at the site and findings on the dead that makes police believe there is suspicion of murder, says Johansen.
According to Oppland Arbeiderblad who has information from “informed”, the dead was found disjointed. Police lawyer will not comment on this, but says that the corpse was found with “terrible injuries”.
There are campfire remains on the site, and police attribute this to the fire damage on the body. Currently, the police have not made any clear understanding of whether this also is the scene of the murder.
The dead man’s identity has not been determined, and it has not been possible to see if it concerns a foreign person or whether it is a Norwegian person. The dead will be autopsied on Monday and police are waiting to say anything before the preliminary autopsy report is created.
