264 people sought asylum in October. This is nine fewer than in September. So far this year, UDI has received 2804 asylum applications.

A new development in October is that Eritrean nationals are the largest asylum seeking group, with 61 applicants. The following groups include 28 Turkish nationals and 20 Syrian, according to figures from the Directorate of Immigration (UDI).
18 of the 264 were unaccompanied minors, also a group where Eritreans were the largest.
There was also one German, one Portuguese, and three Czechs among the asylum seekers, as well as five people from crisis-hit Venezuela.
January is the only month this year where over 300 asylum seekers arrived.
So far this year, the majority of asylum seekers have come from Syria (456), Afghanistan (338) and Eritrea (310).
If the asylum influx continues at current levels, the number of asylum seekers coming to Norway this year will be under 3,500. That is a 10th of the last year’s number which reached 31,000.
